One of the largest food and drink events of the year, the annual Gourmet Food and Wine Expo took place in November at the Metro Convention Centre. 2015 marked the expo’s 21st year. With hundreds of exhibitors, the show ran for 4 days and included an onsite mini LCBO store. Guests purchased tickets to access the show and then sample tickets once inside to spend on bites and drinks at vendor booths.

Walking the show, I found there was a lot of beer, wine and spirits including some of my favourite labels like Beringer, Beau’s and Jack Daniel’s. Throughout the show, the Dairy Farmers of Canada also hosted cheese tasting and information classes on the “All You Need is Cheese Stage”. Needless to say, the evening was filling with great drinks.
As for food, restaurants showing included Casa Manila, Barsa Taverna, Ferrero Rocher, Rock Lobster and Little Fin. Liko’s stand had a constant line up, luring stomachs with the amazing smell of frying spam. Caplansky’s Deli had rolled in their food truck in the exhibition. EDO was serving up Sushirittos, a Japanese burrito with similar ingredients as a California roll.
With the variety of vendors, the Gourmet Food and Wine Expo proves to be filled with plenty of samples, tastes and sips.
