EAT TO THE BEAT 2015

Eat to the Beat 2015

Eat to the Beat was held this year on October 27th at Roy Thomson Hall. Female chefs from around Toronto gathered to cook for a great cause. This year’s event celebrated Eat to the Beat’s 20th anniversary and was exceptional.

Set up throughout the lobby of Roy Thomson, over 50 food booths were set up offering guests delectable savoury and sweet bites. The event was wonderfully organized and well thought out. In addition to food, there were over 20 beverage booths (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), which were spread out in between the food. As I went through my circuit of stations, I usually hit a wine booth just as I was finishing up my last pour.

Meatballs and tarts seemed to be the trend that night and many stations offered vegetarian options. All food and beverages were included in the ticket price. This included a Starbucks cafe and water. Here were some highlights and a handful of my favourite bites, not close to being all-encompassing. I was overwhelmed by the great attendance, and amount of food options. Half way through the night, I had to start turning down cupcakes from already being full. One of my favourite booths was from Chef Nuit Regular but I missed taking any pictures.

Renee Bellefeuille – AGO – Beer braised lamb cornish pasty
Donna Dooher & Michael Leary – Mildred’s Kitchen Temple – Waffle and Lox
Gauravi Shah – Tilde – Chipotle BBQ Pork belly taco
Alexandra Feswick & Amberlynne Plourde – The Drake Hotel – Red curried salmon poke bowl
Jennifer Mooers & Chris Brown – Citizen Catering – King Cole smoked duck breast tart
Emma Beqaj – Emma’s Eatery Catering – Mini lobster roll
Tiiu Christie & Tysa Christie – Marigolds and Onions – Beetroot salmon blini

In addition to the endless food, Eat to the Beat had a Silent Auction, raffle and Mystery Bags. All proceeds from the event benefits Willow Breast & Hereditary Support, a not-for-profit organization that offers free peer support to anyone coping with breast cancer. This year, the event raised over $200,000.

It was an honour to be invited to attend to this truly delicious event, all for a great cause.
