After a wonderful dinner experience at Toca, I was very excited to be invited to the launch of their new Italian Saturday Brunch buffet. Even more so after seeing the menu, which included Canadian lobster tails, oysters, crab legs, cheeses from their cheese cave and smoked salmon. Also, bottomless mimosas and bellinis. Yes yes and so much yes.

Disclaimer: All food and drinks reviewed below were provided complimentary. All opinions expressed below are wholly mine.

Priced at $64 per adult Saturday brunch was served from 12pm-2pm at Toca, the main restaurant inside the Ritz-Carlton Toronto hotel. Buffet stations were set up in the centre of the dining area and around the entrance. There were tables of charcuterie, cheese and crackers, desserts, a salad bar, cooked breakfast fare (i.e. eggs benedict and ricotta pancakes) and pasta but the main attraction was definitely the East Coast Seafood Bar.

Sitting on a bed of crushed ice were freshly shucked east coast oysters, lobster tail halves, plump shrimp, crab legs and an assortment of accoutrements. Needless to say, Stephen knew where to find me for the rest of the morning. Oysters were the first to disappear and the kitchen had a hard time keeping them stocked. There was no short supply of lobster tails or crab legs, which were fresh, tender and flavourful.

Of the cooked offerings, my favourites were the pasta and ricotta pancakes. The eggs benedict had a perfect poached egg but the english muffin was a touch hardened, difficult to keep warm in a buffet situation. Both the charcuterie and cheese platters had nice opposing selections (a soft cheese, a hard cheese) and I finished my meal with a decadent creme brulee.

Overall, the Saturday Brunch buffet at Toca was an indulgent treat. The seafood bar was one of the best I’ve seen in the city in terms of quality and selection and there was a wide assortment of other stations to make the entire meal a worthwhile outing.

Located in First Markham Place, Kaka All You Can Eat is currently one of the most popular restaurants uptown. Attracting diners with their high quality sushi and huge selection of cooked dishes, reservations are highly sought after. When the restaurant first opened, I tried to book a table on a Friday night for a group of 10, two weeks in advance and had no luck. Since then, Kaka remains a hotspot, filled to capacity even on weeknights until well past dinnertime. I did get a chance to stop by recently to check out their newest menu items with Sweven Media.

Disclaimer: All food and drinks reviewed below were provided complimentary. All opinions expressed below are wholly mine.

One of the main reasons for Kaka’s popularity is the number of premium items on their AYCE menu that includes pressed and torched sushi. The quality of sashimi was also excellent. Each fish was fresh and sweet, with a firm but tender texture. Orders were placed via an iPad system and confirmed by the server. Both kitchen and sushi items arrived quickly and our table soon filled up with small plates and bowls. The majority of cooked items had a default order quantity of 1 portion, which meant being able to order 1 takoyaki ball, 1 piece of tempura and 1 piece of kalbi.

Kaka is always refining their menu and introducing new seasonal items. Launched in late July, new menu items included a selection of 3 poke bowls, 2 tacos, an Udon Carbonara, Chicken Meatball Skewers and 2 creamy desserts. My favourite poke bowl was the Citrus Soy Poke that had salmon, nori, sesame, avocado, cilantro, green onions and tempura bits. The poke was well seasoned and the two bite portion size was perfect. The Chicken Meatball Skewer was tender, juicy and had a crispy exterior. Between the fish and shrimp taco, my preference was for the fish as the batter on the shrimp was a bit heavy and overwhelming. Of all the new items, the Bacon and Mushroom Carbonara Udon was my favourite with chewy noodles in a rich and creamy sauce.

Some other menu items, which aren’t usually found at AYCE restaurants, I really enjoyed were the Spring Egg, Ox Tongue Skewer, Baked Oyster with Cheese and Blow Torched Beef Tataki Rolls. The spring egg was a poached egg served in a light bonito broth that had a perfect runny yolk. I would eat one daily if I could. Of course, the blowtorched sushi was also very tasty. The Salmon with Jalapeno and Spicy Mayo was my favourite piece.

After feasting for a couple of hours, there was still dessert. Reading through the choices, which was far more extensive than just ice cream, I wanted to try everything. Dinner had been really filling though. Luckily, Kaka had thought of this dilemma on their customer’s behalf and serves all of their desserts in shot glasses, a bite-size portion, allowing diners to eat more than just one. I ended up trying the creme brulee, chocolate mousse (x2), lychee panna cotta, and a scoop of green tea ice cream. All sorts of diets were put on hold that night.

Sometimes, I get a craving for AYCE Korean BBQ. My appetite has shrunk over time, but the combination of a smoky grill and endless short ribs calls to me every few months. I usually regret the indulgence during the food coma after, when my waistline is uncomfortably snug. My body however has the memory of a goldfish and after some time, the craving hits again. This was how The Hubby and I ended up at Korean Grill House on Queen St, one Friday evening for our date night. Chubby buddies for life.

Atmosphere: Korean Grill House was my go to AYCE Korean BBQ in Toronto, the Queen St. location especially. The restaurant is usually full, and stays so late into the night thanks to their night owl deal (same pricing as lunch, $6 cheaper than dinner). Tables are equipped with built-in grills, shared between 2-4 people. The space was well ventilated, but I do always leave smelling like bbq. With the years of smoke and oil, the floors were a little sticky but overall the restaurant was clean.

Service: Unfortunately, this was an occasion where service impacted my experience negatively. When I visit an AYCE restaurant, I give great leniency for service because there are large complex orders. However I don’t appreciate restaurants who aren’t transparent with their menu. With our first order we were told about pork belly, an additional item that wasn’t on the menu but one the server manually wrote on our order sheets. For our second order, we tried to order pork belly and it never came. We thought maybe they just forgot and tried to order it again, still nothing. Rather than placing a fourth order, I asked a server about our previous requests. The server returned to tell us that the kitchen was all out of pork belly, at 6pm on a Friday, before their evening peak. The Hubby believed this, I was more skeptical. Once we saw the couple next to us receive two trays of pork belly and continued to see trays being served at other tables, we were confused. If the restaurant needed to limit orders on an item, I would much rather know ahead of time, than feel like I’m being deceived. This left a sour note to an otherwise acceptable meal service.

Food: At Korean Grill House, for dinner there were two AYCE options. The first included beef, pork, chicken, beef ribs, red sausage, ox liver, salmon, squid and fish fillet for $18.99 Fridays to Sundays and on holidays. To add lamb and shrimp was an additional $2. To add vegetables including lettuce, mushroom, onion, green pepper and pineapple was an additional $3. Everyone at a table in the same party had to order the same options. We chose the basic without shrimp, lamb or vegetables.

Of the basic items included I usually skip the fish fillet, which is hard to grill without falling apart and not flavourful. In comparison, the salmon offers a lot more taste and holds together better.

6 side dishes, beef broth and steamed rice are included and can be reordered. From the side dishes, I like to snack on the bean sprouts, kimchi and pickled radish while waiting for the meat to cook. That night, I enjoyed the quality of the beef ribs, salmon and squid. The ribs were lean and meaty. In the past, I have received poor cuts with all fat on later orders. The slices of beef were thick, marbled and tender. Both beef dishes were marinated ahead of time and didn’t need any dipping sauce after being cooked.

Overall, I found the quality of ingredients at Korean Grill House had improved. However, service was disappointing.

When I’m stressed, I eat. This meant that the days leading up to my wedding my appetite was insatiable. My husband-to-be convinced me that dinner at a Chinese buffet the night before was probably not the best idea. The Monday after though, we went and stuffed our faces at Dragon Legend Buffet.

Atmosphere: The building that Dragon Legend took over used to be a Chinese banquet hall so there’s plenty of space and could easily sit a hundred people. The interior decor was as elaborate as the building exterior, filled to the brim with Asian motifs and wall decor. Tables were large and wooden chairs were heavy. The stage area remained and two large screens on each side of the dining hall is now used to show Chinese TV shows. 3 VIP rooms are available for private events although we saw tables set up in the main dining area for groups of more than 20.

The buffet area where are the food was set up had wide aisles and wasn’t crowded. There was lots of room to queue and browse. Each dish had an individual spotlight over it and a description in Chinese and English.

Service: None of the wait staff were unfriendly or rude, but it was clear they were just there to get the job done. This was especially true for anyone manning a food station. I’m sure it’s not easy and some customers probably try to get around the portion limits, but the servers paid little attention to you other than dropping food on your plate and there was no break in conversations between themselves.

At the sashimi station, each visit was limited to 3 pieces of salmon and 2 pieces of octopus. At the Peking Duck station, the limit was two wraps each.

Food: Hands down, this was one of the best buffets I’ve ever been to in terms of selection and quality of the food. At dinner, there was dim sum, a grilled station, salad bar, sashimi, maki, prime rib, Peking duck wraps, hand pulled noodles and a slew of Chinese stir frys.

Sushi and Sashimi – I was impressed by the quality of the fresh fish, especially the tuna and salmon. There was squid, rolls, seared tuna, tamago and a lot more choices.
Hand Pulled Noodles – Noodles are hand pulled and the flavour rotates every half an hour (spinach, normal, pulled, shaved), diners can choose between three toppings (ie. BBQ duck or pork) and 3 soup bases. This was one of my favourite stations.
Prime Rib – Carved to order, the beef was cooked to a medium well, juicy and was tender.
Grilled – So many choices! You can also order grilled steak on the spot, it’s diced, seasoned, soft and a hidden treasure. There was also squid, red sausage, skewers, pancakes and my favourite, pineapple.
Peking Duck – A this station, you state if you’d like one or two wraps and the server places them on your plate. They try to make sure each wrap has an equal amount of skin and meat pieces. Hoisin sauce, sliced cucumber and green onion were self serve. This wasn’t the best Peking Duck, but not bad (I ate 3 wraps).
Salad Bar – In addition to greens, there was wakame salad, kimchi, cold shrimp and mussels.
Dim Sum – A disappointment, the steamers are left warming for too long and the dumpling wrappers were thick. I would skip this station and save the stomach room.
Stir Frys – There was a good variety of classic Chinese dishes like Eggplant, Sweet and Sour Chicken and plenty of vegetables. I did find the dishes on the oily side but they were well seasoned and will satisfy the craving for dirty Chinese food.
Dessert – Dessert was split into two areas, the usual ice cream flavours (including Green Tea and Mango) and a table filled with cakes and pudding. Overall, the cakes were underwhelming, a little dry, while the mousses and puddings fared better.

I’ve now been to Dragon Legend twice, the first with The Hubby’s immediate family and the second time with a bigger group of family. Based on these two visits, I do believe that Dragon Legend has a good selection of food, lots of variety and is an excellent choice for a family gathering (picky or big eaters). You are paying for the quality and selection though at $26.99 per person for dinner Mon-Thu and $31.99 Fri-Sun and Holidays. Personally, I’d rather rather spend that much elsewhere.

For the past few weeks, I’ve had an intense craving for Korean BBQ. At first, we were planning on meeting up with a few friends at Sariwon, but as our party grew, we figured Chako would be a more accommodating venue. AYCE is also never a hard sell for me.

Atmosphere: Our group visited the Chako at East Beaver Creek on a Saturday night and I figured it would be busy. To get ahead of the crowd, we met at 6pm and easily grabbed a table. The large restaurant filled up fast and there was a short line outside when we left 3 hours later. Most of the tables at Chako were occupied by large groups (families, birthday gatherings) and it was boisterous but not loud. The air was filled with the smoke of BBQ, which lingered in my hair and clothing for the rest of the night. If you have plans after dinner, you’ll be bringing the scent of Korean BBQ with you.

Service: For operating an AYCE menu, service was as expected. We didn’t have one dedicated server but was able to flag down anyone when we needed to order more. Our first order of food arrived promptly and the server tried to spread out the trays of meat. We only changed the grill once during dinner and the process was quick and efficient.

Food: I haven’t been to Chako for at least a year and was pleasantly surprised with the updates to their menu. The price for an adult dinner on the weekend was $21.99 (before tax and gratuity vs $19.99 Mon-Thu), which was reasonable for the variety and quality of ingredients we ate. There are more menu items available for the weekend dinner that was worth the added $2.

In addition to Korean BBQ items, Chako offers a selection of sushi rolls, nigiri and Japanese appetizers. In addition to miso soup, rice and salad, the weekend only appetizers were roasted pepper, edamame and seaweed salad. Each portion of wakame salad was small, but we you can order 5 at a time, it wasn’t really an issue. I would skip the miso soup, my bowl was blank and watery. The standard meat selection was sliced beef, pork, chicken, ox tongue and short rib with the weekend menu adding sliced lamb and “Chako select beef”. That night, the select beef were thick, fatty cuts covered with rosemary. This was one the tastiest meats, tender and with lots of flavour. I liked how the sliced beef and lamb were lightly marinated and not soaked in sauce. The quality of the short ribs were also consistent throughout the night.

For seafood, there was shrimp, squid, mussels and white fish with salmon being available at the weekend dinner price. The mussels were from frozen and came topped with minced garlic. The salmon and squid were both fresh and easy to cook. I loved that there were vegetables on the menu, green pepper, red pepper, zucchini, pineapple and button mushrooms on the weekend. The pineapple was a great update and a better dessert than many of their menu options.

We did also try their sushi, with the nigiri out performing the maki. The selection was limited to basic choices like avocado, california and spicy salmon. I found the rice in the maki sticky, and there was too much of it. With the nigiri, the fish was fresh and the ratio of rice to sashimi was much better.

After lots of BBQed meat, there was still room for dessert. Both puddings, red bean and mango, available only for weekend dinner were disappointing and lacked flavour. Of the four choices, I’d stick to the green tea or mango ice cream.

Kim Tao is a hotpot restaurant located in Richmond Hill with mixed reviews, mainly focused on the poor service. After my recent visit, my thoughts are mixed as well. On one hand the food was good quality and there were lots of elements included in the set price. On the other, service was inconsistent and they were understaffed. The two almost cancel each other out and to be honest, the service wasn’t rude or inefficient and relative to other Chinese hot pot places, not too off the mark.

Atmosphere: We had a large group and ended up seated at 2 round tables in the centre of the restaurant. The dining are was well ventilated and there wasn’t much steam built up inside. Paper and laminated signs covered the walls advertising specials in English and Chinese. The space felt worn and a little dingy but was clean and consistently full.

Service: My main gripes with service were the lack of care and inconsistency. Every server was friendly, but it didn’t make up for these two faults. First the lack of care. When ordering dinner, each table has an option to add a cooked dish (ie: rice pot). Our table only received one order form to select soup base, even though we knew we’d be getting three pots. So we tried to figure out how to place the form and then forgot to order our cooked dish, the server didn’t prompt us at all. At the end of our meal, it took a good 20 minutes to get our bill.

Second was the inconsistency. Either there was no one to refill the pot with stock, or they refilled it twice within the span of 5 minutes. This was the same for refills on the pitchers of plum juice or iced tea. Then there was the food portion. Unlike any other AYCE place, Kim Tao always brought more food than we ordered. We’d order 5 plates of lamb and at least 8 would show up. One serving of tripe was ¼ of a plate on the first order but turned into an entire plate for the second order. I didn’t understand how their order sheet translated to serving size.

Food: Where Kim Tao did deliver was the food. They had a great selection of sauces, peanut, garlic, cilantro, chili, satay, everything you could ask for. The broth selection was also decent and I liked how satay was non premium choice. I also loved that pitchers or plum juice and iced tea were complimentary and refills were provided. This was a big plus for me.

All of us chose the non seafood course and even then, squid and octopus were available. The selection and quality of hot pot ingredients was one of the best I’ve been to with tripe, fresh fish/beef balls, pork rind, gluten, all sorts of noodles, blood, seasonal vegetables and so much more. There wasn’t anything I found missing and for $20.99, it was a good deal.

Dessert of mango sago was also complementary but I found it watery and could’ve skipped it. Overall, with a little patience, Kim Tao is worth a visit based on the food and value.

Heart Sushi is the latest AYCE Japanese restaurant to open in Mississauga. From the same owners as 168 Sushi, the restaurant is fully equipped with the now standard Ipad ordering system and I had high hopes based on early reviews. My family and I stopped by for Father’s Day lunch this year and it was pretty much chaos.

Atmosphere: Located at Heartland Town Centre, the decor of Heart Sushi is sleek and modern. The furniture is monochromatic with black leather benches, white granite tables and glossy white walls. Pops of colour show up in a cherry blossom mural behind the sushi bar and on the interior of large lamp shades. Being Father’s day, the restaurant was packed. People were waiting for tables inside, outside and just about everywhere. Servers moved at a frantic pace and it didn’t slow down until after the lunch menu ended (at 3:30pm).

Service: I’ve learned over the years that any “holiday” weekend always translates to long lines at restaurants and reservations are a must. Even armed with a reservation, walking into the restaurant and seeing the crowd of people at the hostess desk, I knew there would be a wait. Our reservation was mostly honoured and we had a table 30 minutes later. Not the best, but better than a walk-in would have been. The server who seated us explained how the Ipad ordering system worked and left us to browse the menu. The app itself is easy to navigate and we placed our first order. After that, the service hit quite a few bumps.

The app doesn’t track what items have been delivered and what’s still outstanding

There’s no “call for service” option, with busboys madly delivering plates to tables, there were only a couple of servers working the floor who could check on orders and answer any questions

While the kitchen items were quick to arrive, items from the sushi bar were painfully slow. I understand they were backed up, but our BBQ eel from the very first order took the entire 2 hour meal to arrive, and only after inquiring 3 times. During the entire lunch, I did not see a single order of BBQ eel nigiri being served at any table around us. Then at the very end of lunch service, we finally received our orders along with all the other tables around us.

When we asked if we should re-order missing items or wait, different servers had different answers.

Food: The menu selection at Heart Sushi was standard with some nice additions of Thai (pad thai), Chinese (sweet and sour pork) and Korean (bulgogi) entrees. For lunch, sashimi is not available but there was a wide variety of rolls and sushi items including tobiko and mackerel. I was a little disappointed that they had run out of tiramisu for dessert. As or quality, every dish we ordered was on par or above other AYCE restaurants. I really enjoyed the sweet and sour soup, the grilled pin mackerel was very crispy, the tempura was lightly battered, not oily and all of the raw fish was fresh. The rolls were bite sized with an excellent rice to filling ratio. Note that drinks are not included in the AYCE menu and need to be ordered at an additional charge.

With a lunch buffet menu priced at $16.99 for adults on weekends and $14.99 on weekdays, I was happy with the menu selection, quality of the food and think it’s well priced. With all of the missteps in service though, it will be a hard sell to convince my family for a return visit when they’re already big fans of Yang’s and K&B Sushi.

With the weather warming up, I wanted to get in one more hotpot meal before the appeal of boiling soup diminished. Hotpot on Yonge opened about a year ago and they’ve been a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Before that, my hotpot cravings had to be satisfied uptown or at my parent’s house. I do love to hotpot at home, but with two people it’s hard to buy a variety of ingredients without a ton of leftovers.

Atmosphere: The restaurant is clean and on busy nights, the windows are steamed up from the open pots of boiling broth. I would not recommend wearing anything that needs to be dry cleaned. Similar to a meal at Korean BBQ, you will smell like hotpot after. Hotpot is also typically a long meal. We ate for about 2 hours, which is about average.

Service: Like many Chinese restaurants, service was efficient if not the friendliest. We didn’t have any issues ordering in English although it does help to understand Mandarin or Cantonese. The menu is bilingual but the order sheet was only in Chinese. Each item was numbered, making it possible to fill out the order sheet while referencing the main menu. There are a few typos, spelling mistakes and the general translation issues with the menu. For example, if you’re a first time visitor it would be hard to differentiate between yam noodle, noodles, rice noodles and thick noodles. Luckily each food portion is small, which makes it low risk to order any item to try. If no one at the table likes it, it will just melt into the soup.

Food: Hotpot is essential a lot of fresh, raw ingredients cooked in boiling soup. Each ingredient is fished out when ready and eaten fresh with a dipping sauce. The typical items are thin slices of lamb and beef, various fish balls, seafood, mushrooms and all sorts of vegetables. My go-to order usually includes watercress, wintermelon, spinach, frozen tofu, enoki mushrooms, fish tofu, yam noodles, taro, lamb, beef and rice cakes.

At Hotpot on Yonge, the AYCE menu selection is varied and is on par with Hipot uptown. There is a seafood option that has costs a couple of dollars more. I usually skip this as the value add isn’t amazing. There are three broth choices included in the AYCE price and a few more premium options. I like the cilantro and satay broths myself. A wide variety of dipping sauce ingredients are also available including peanut, soy, satay, hot sauces and many more.

All of our ordered items were fresh and delivered at once allowing us to enjoy our meal and cook items in the sequence we wanted. My cooking order is always sliced meat and seafood until the broth becomes fatty and flavorful. Then I add in items that take longer to cook like wintermelon, dumplings and taro. Once the broth is a rolling boil again, fresh greens can be blanched and come out full of flavor from the broth. Last comes the carbs, ending the meal with whatever noodles I still have room for.

Included in the AYCE menu at Hotpot on Yonge is a bowl of mango pudding or herbal jelly for dessert.

AYCE Japanese restaurants are a staple in any Toronto neighbourhood. The vast menu of cooked and raw items is able to appease every taste bud. Of the many Japanese restaurants in North York, Sushi One is my go to for an AYCE option.

Atmosphere: While my little brother was visiting during March break, we continued our tradition of over-indulging on sashimi with a visit to Sushi One. Arriving at 7pm on a Monday, the last thing I expected was for the restaurant to be packed. It was a full house. Our timing was terrible and it seemed like every table had just settled into their meal. We decided to wait it out, getting hungrier before an AYCE meal felt like the right course of action. There was one couple before us and we both got our tables at the same time after 20 minutes. The restaurant doesn’t have an area to wait, so the 20 minutes were passed standing between two tables of diners.

Service: Service was fine, not exceptional but got the job done. Our table for two became very crowded very quickly. We had to rearrange and stack plates ourselves throughout the meal. There is a service call button, which we did use a few times to place another order and to get the bill. One thing I really liked about Sushi One is the attention to presentation. Both our orders of sashimi arrived nicely plated.

Food: Dinner price was $21.99 and our bill for two came to $55 after tax and tip. This is equivalent to one of their medium party trays that include 55-66 pieces. The sashimi pieces served for AYCE are always smaller than a la carte but with the addition of grilled items, ice cream and appetizers, the variety of the meal is what I enjoy the most. I was impressed that sweet shrimp and mackerel sashimi were included on the menu as seasonal items. The sweet shrimp was fresh and tasted great. Both items had a limit of 5 pieces per order. Overall, the sashimi was fresh, cut in bite size pieces and the maki was rolled with a thin layer of rice. All of the appetizers we ordered were standard to good; miso soup, wakame salad, edamame and kimchi. The tempura and agedashi tofu were lightly fried and not greasy. The kalbi slices were thick and grilled well. No expectations were shattered, but they were consistently met with some nice surprises.

Sushi One’s lunch AYCE is a great deal at $12.99, an extra dollar for Friday-Sunday. Sashimi is not included but the maki, rolls and sushi selection is on par with dinner. Sushi One also offers great $6.99 lunch bento specials. For dinner, my favourite take out orders are the Chirashi or Gold Sushi dinner set.

As I’ve mentioned previously, my family loves AYCE Japanese with Yang’s being our usual choice. When I was home for the holidays this year, we decided to try a new location with great reviews. K&B Sushi took over the space previously occupied by Crazy Sushi in the AMC complex at Winston Churchill and the QEW. They have a teppanyaki room in addition to AYCE dinner and lunch menus.

Atmosphere: The decor is very modern and clean, light wood and dark leather materials are used with a ceiling full of white pendant light. There are a lot of tables for large groups and booths have high partitions, giving them a private feel. During that lunch hour, most of the patrons were families and many had small children.

Service: K&B is one of the AYCE restaurants who utilize an Ipad ordering system. The app was very easy to use. All of the menu items are pictured, categorized and had a description. You simply go through the menu and press “+” to set the number of orders of each item. Once you’re set, there’s a button to call the server, who will come and sends the order to the kitchen. The whole process was really efficient and I found all of our items arrived with no mistakes. It was hard to get a server’s attention though. Outside of placing an order or serving a dish, no one really came by. The app did allow you to call for service. Also, adding anything to the order must be done through the app, it’s not possible to just verbally tell your server.

Food: In addition to the usual Japanese rolls, nigiri, noodles and appetizers, K&B offers a select number of Chinese dishes as well such as a sweet and sour soup and shrimp dumplings. My dad doesn’t eat raw fish so we always order a lot of cooked items from the kitchen as well as rolls and nigiri. The galbi and teriyaki were well cooked, not tough and the tempura were lightly battered. I really liked the sweet and sour soup, one of my weaknesses at any restaurant. As for the shrimp dumplings, I don’t think they were made fresh but they were decent. The katsu’s were also thin, very tender, and had a nice crispy breading. A unique menu item was the unagi pancake, which was bbq eel topping a small korean pancake covered in katsu sauce, pretty good.

The sushi assortment at lunch is one of the widest I’ve seen in Mississauga with saba and mackerel offered. Each piece had a nice thick slice of fish and the right amount of rice. Similarly, their rolls were also heavy on the filling and light on rice, the best kind of roll. Ice cream selection is standard with green tea, red bean, mango, vanilla and chocolate. Soft drinks and hot tea are also included. K&B Sushi might be our new go to AYCE restaurant if the quality and service remains consistent.
